Phases of the atkin diet.

Phases of the Atkins Diet:

1. Induction Phase:

   - This initial phase lasts for about two weeks and restricts carbohydrate intake to 20-25 grams per day. During this phase, the body enters a state of ketosis, where it burns fat for fuel instead of carbohydrates. Foods allowed during this phase include meat, poultry, fish, eggs, butter, oils, and some low-carb vegetables like leafy greens.

2. Balancing Phase (Ongoing Weight Loss):

   - In this phase, carbohydrate intake is gradually increased to find the individual's carbohydrate tolerance level for weight loss. More low-carb vegetables, nuts, and berries are introduced, while starchy vegetables, fruits, and grains are still limited.

3. Pre-Maintenance Phase:

   - As weight loss goals are approached, carbohydrate intake is increased further to find the individual's critical carbohydrate level for maintenance. This phase helps transition to a more balanced long-term eating plan.

4. Maintenance Phase:

   - Once weight loss goals are achieved, the individual follows a sustainable low-carbohydrate eating plan to maintain their weight and support overall health. This phase focuses on a balanced intake of protein, fats, and carbohydrates from nutrient-dense sources.
